Print VAC
The Printmaking VAC was led by Anne-Marie Keavney, post-grad tutor at NCAD. The sessions focused on line and composition through lino block printing methods. Student teachers created a series of lino prints using the reduction print technique. They also used chin collé, a mathod of adding layers of paper to the print. The module was succesful as an intermediate introduction to lino printing, applicable to the post-primary classroom.

Artist / Educator

About the artist
Andrea Byrne is an artist and educator based on the Northside of Dublin. She graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2009, with her Bachelors degree in Fine Art. Shortly after graduating, Andrea decided to travel and has lived and worked in the field of art and design in both Los Angeles, and Perth, Australia.
Andrea began her teaching career working in further education in 2015 as a teacher of fashion and textiles, art and design, communications and art for special needs. She has just achieved her Professional Masters in Education from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.

Having always had a keen interest in the area of special needs, Andrea is currently working voluntarily teaching art and craft to a group of young adults with intellectual disabilities. Andrea has also worked teaching QQI level 5 Drawing with 'Headway Ireland' an organisation for adults with acquired brain injuries and completed her special education needs teaching placement at Stewart's Care Coachhouse in Palmerstown, Dublin.

Through her own art practice, Andrea attempts to interpret the many encumbering aspects of the human condition, combing print, textiles and other mixed media.
